The Julia Butterfly, Dryas iulia, is a brush-footed butterfly. Its range is from Brazil to the southern US. It is often seen in butterfly houses, and perches on people sometimes. It is a lovely orange butterfly with color variation between individuals. These earrings are a tribute to this butterfly. They are fabricated out of Sterling and jeweler's brass, and carefully handpainted and then sealed with a coat of protective resin. While hanging, they measure 3/4" wide by 1 1/4" long, not including the Sterling earring wires. They move gently while worn and are as light as a butterfly.
