Bioluminescence is the ability of certain life forms to glow in the dark. Certain mushrooms, insects (think fireflies), plankton, jellyfish, and fish possess this. It serves different functions such as communicating with others in the same species, warning predators, and attracting prey, among other purposes. These fish earring borrow on the idea of bioluminescence. When exposed to a bright light for several minutes, they will glow in the dark for hours. I craft them out of Sterling, and use different pigments to add color and glow. They are resined twice for durability. I developed a way to create translucence in jewelry, and these fish feature this. They measure 1" x 3/4" and are light and fun to wear and to give.
